A Christmas Giggle in Buffalo
Ever since I assumed the role of Santa, I've been experiencing new memories that are Truly… not my own. These thoughts, these stories can come to me as dreams, so I'll recount the details the best as I can.
It feels like it was yesterday, The reindeer and I, we were flying north of the border in Canada, just above of Lake Ontario. We have just finished our route through the city of Toronto when snow flakes started to fall here, on this Christmas Eve.
I had a sense that we were ahead of schedule, so I steer the reindeer over to Niagara Falls. It’s always a site to see, especially from my point of view. From the right angle, you can see the moonlight glisten off of the Crest of the Falls. This something worth remembering. We linger there for only a minute before gliding towards Buffalo.
Every once in a while I come across a home that gives me a fresh experience. Peering through snow, I could see that this house had icicle lights and a big blow up penguin in the front lawn. The reindeer landed gently on the roof.
Right away, it feels like Déjà vu, I feel like I’ve been to this home before. That must’ve been 10 years earlier for a 13 year old boy named Brock. That kid… Brock he had to be in his 20s by now. I’m not always sure… maybe his family moved away and a new family lives here.
So before I hoped off, I checked the list:
Anna Marie… her 1st Christmas… 3 months old, Building Blocks and Bubbles. My first thought, maybe this little girl Anna is Brock’s daughter.
I hopped off the sleigh, I did my shimmy down the chimney and landed on my feet in the living room. I do a quick scan for pets… and the coast was clear.
And it hits me, I have been here before,.... But The tree was in a different corner of the room, and I can remember putting Brock’s new bike there years before.
Well anyways I got to work, spread the gifts on the floor… under the tree. I nibbled on the 2 cookies the parents left for me. I was about to go back up the chimney, when I heard the baby, I heard ANNA GIGGLE
It was a small coo but loud enough for my twinkling ears… She was in the next room and her door was slightly ajar.
Sometimes I get nosey , but I love children so I said to myself, “ Let me get a look at this baby girl .”
To my surprise, Anna was wide awake and she was not fussy. I peaked my head over the crib, she was beautiful with big blue eyes, she was wrapped up in a warm, red blanket. Anna looked right at me and I smiled, then she smiled and giggled again .
Something you may not know about me. I have a sixth sense . It is not always available to me, but sometimes I get this feeling… that I can see inside a Child’s Heart . I can sometimes see Brilliance… in children…, even they show it.
Obviously Anna was too young to talk, she could not walk, and she could barely hold up her head. She was looking right at me, when I felt a strange feeling. I sensed that Anna had powerful eyes , a Creative Mind, and she has a Giving Heart.
I love seeing a giving heart in children. I kissed my glove and touched her forehead. I told her to grow strong and wished her well. “ I'll see you again next year Anna”
Then, I sprinkled some Christmas cheer around her room. Put the door back to where it was cracked.
Back on the roof, I jotted a note next to her name. Anna’s blue eyes and her giggle will be remembered. Anna Marie has potential to be a long term, repeat customer. She is going to create something and give it to the world. I definitely want to keep tabs on her.
“Ok now Dancer, We’re off to next door.”
We took off into the snowy night through Buffalo. Later that evening, the weather would clear up as we head down the southern coast of Lake Erie passing through Pennsylvania on our way to Ohio.
I truly couldn't wait to see the next child's smile… or giggle. I know from here, I'm looking forward to stopping by pair of brothers in Cleveland.
We all know… that Cleveland Rocks
